Frequently Asked Questions About Lost Ring Recovery in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza

Updated: May 19

If you have lost a ring on a Mallorca, Menorca or Ibiza beach — in the sand or in the sea — you probably have a few questions before you call us. This is the answer page. If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp at +34 659 849 412 and we will reply within minutes.

Quick answers

How quickly can you come to the beach after I call?

Our typical response time on Mallorca is under 2 hours during the season. We work 24/7 in season and the faster you call, the higher the recovery chance. Tides, sandstorms and other beach users disturb the loss site quickly, so even a few extra hours can matter.

How much does ring recovery cost?

We charge a small call-out fee that covers our travel and search time, plus a success fee only if we recover your item. Both figures are agreed in writing before we leave for the beach, so there are no surprises. For most cases you'll know the exact numbers within minutes of messaging us.

Do you cover Menorca?

Yes. We travel to Menorca by ferry and have recovered rings from beaches and calas across the island including Cala Macarella, Cala en Turqueta, Punta Prima and Son Bou. Because of ferry timing, please contact us as soon as possible — the earlier we can plan the crossing, the faster we can be searching.

Can you find a ring in the sea?

Yes — that is roughly half of what we do. We use waterproof pulse-induction metal detectors that work in saltwater up to approximately 7 metres deep. We have recovered rings from ankle-deep paddle areas through to scuba depth. Pulse-induction is the key — standard VLF detectors that work fine on dry sand simply do not function in seawater.

How deep can a ring sink into sand?

On Mallorca beaches, rings typically sink between 10 and 30 cm in the first 24 hours, depending on grain size, water content and foot traffic. Modern detectors locate rings reliably to about 50 cm in clean dry sand and to roughly 30 cm in wet, mineralised sand.

I lost my ring days ago. Is it too late?

Not necessarily. Rings often stay near where they were lost — they are small and heavy and tend to sink rather than drift. We have recovered rings days and even weeks after the original loss. Contact us with as much detail as possible: beach, exact spot, time, whether on dry sand, wet sand or in shallow water.

What information do you need from me?

The beach name, the exact spot if you can remember (a photo or GPS pin helps), the time you lost the ring, whether you were on dry sand, wet sand or in the water, the tide level at the time, and a description of the ring — metal type, any stones, and any inscriptions inside the band.

Do you provide a receipt for insurance claims?

Yes. Whether the recovery is successful or not, we provide a written record of the search, dated and signed, that you can submit with a travel insurance or home insurance claim. Several clients have used our reports to claim against UK, German and US insurers.

Which areas of Mallorca do you cover?

All of Mallorca, including Pollensa, Port de Pollença, Alcudia, Playa de Muro, Palma de Mallorca, Cala Millor, Cala d'Or, Magaluf, Palmanova, Santa Ponsa, Es Trenc, Cala Mesquida and Cala Sant Vicenç. We also cover Ibiza and Menorca.

Do you speak English?

Yes. We work in English, Spanish and German.

What metal detectors do you use?

We use waterproof pulse-induction detectors for shallow water and saltwater searches, and VLF detectors for dry-sand work. Pulse-induction is what makes recovery possible in the Mediterranean — standard VLF detectors fail in seawater. We also carry pinpointers for the final centimetres of any search.
